Version 4.6.6.4

Instructions for Modifying Installation Directories

This document outlines the procedure for modifying the installation directories of PIS (Product Installation System) version 4.6.6.4.

Background:

By default, PIS is installed in the Program Files directory, with the properties directory located in C:\Program Data. However, in certain cases, users may choose to install the product in a different directory, such as the "app" subdirectory.

All the programmes installed - Client, Server and Server32 - contain start-up files with the .config extension, in which there are environment variables used by the product. One of these variables indicates the location of the Properties directory, which is usually in C:\Program Data. This configuration needs to be changed.

The following procedure will allow you to change it.

  1. Access the directory where the product was installed and locate this subdirectory WareServicesUpdate.

  1. Run the WareServicesUpdate programme as an administrator.

  1. Upon running the program, you will be prompted to enter the prefix corresponding to the product being used. Choose the appropriate prefix based on the product installed. For example:

  • CNW for Connware
  • MWH for Metaware
  • PIS for PIS itself
  • CER for Cerensa

  1. After entering the prefix, input the directory path where the product is installed. For instance, if you followed this guide, the directory path would be C:\App\PIS. If the product was installed in the default directory, simply type the letter Y

  1. Next, specify the root directory for the Properties, which, in the case of this guide, would be C:\App\Pis\Properties. Press Enter to confirm.

  1. Once the above steps are completed, the modification of the product installation directories will be finalized.

  1. Close the operating system command window to conclude the process.

By following these instructions, you can successfully modify the installation directories of PIS version 4.6.6.4. If you encounter any issues or require further assistance, please consult the relevant documentation or contact technical support for assistance.
